Team Report for Match No 1 Normanby (Home).

Team Report: It was a cold blustery day but never fear your Captain still wore his shorts! True to form, in front of one and all I mucked up drive off the first Tee. Rain spattered down for brief periods but as the teams started to come in Welton quickly went into a 3 nil lead. We lost one, then it went to 4 - 1. Normanby won the next two games to make it 4 - 3. Les Ramsay and Tony Fell were bringing up the rear. The worst result, but a good one for all that, would be a draw if Les and Tony lost. Not bad. I suppose for our first match.Win or loose I would be happy because the whole point is to enjoy ourselves. But low and behold those two little stars came in winners! The final result Welton 5 Normanby Hall 3. Well done all who took part and all those who helped me on the day. Chuffed? I'm over the moon!
One last thing to round the day off nicely is Tony Robinson got a HOLE IN ONE on the 14th. Congratulations...(mines a pint of beer when you get round to it).Our next match No 2 is away at Carholme on Wednesday 1st May.

Team Report for Match No 2 Carholme (Away).

Team Report: The Seniors team took on Carholme at their course. I was expecting to see a shambles around the course. But no.
Playing 16 holes, due to the horrendous weather we have suffered and their devastating flood, I was amazed at the excellent condition of the fairways and slick firm greens. We were given a warm welcome to match the warm weather and enjoyed our days golf in great company. Areas of damage are plain to see as you go round the course, but fair play to them they have worked hard to repair their course. We had an outstanding 2 course meal afterwards which rounded the day off nicely.
We ended up losing 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 but I'm proud to say none of the matches were won or lost by a 'runaway' score. Well, done the 'Kings. You did 'king well.
A special thanks goes to T Crook for making up the numbers at short notice.
