Team Report:
Despite a rousing pre match call to battle by the Captain, the team managed to come second again. Congratulations to Julian and Stewart for their win and to Nigel Cooke and Colin Taylor for snatching a draw for the jaws of victory! Your Captain and Alan (previous club champion x 3) knew the destiny of our match once Dave Foster birdied 2 of the 1st 6 holes. We fought gallantly and won the back 9 but it was a little too late.
The course was in excellent nick with true running greens and actual green grass on the fairways. It even rained for about 10 seconds.
The fish and chips that followed were delicious. These places are a tough act to follow!
Many thanks to the members who support team the team and appear to enjoy themselves irrespective of the result.

Team Report:
I can report that Welton came second again in this match. The course was in excellent order with true running greens although the rough was thick enough to cause problems for Nigel and myself. We led the team by example with a 6&5 thumping. In fairness, the opposition played well and even nett pars didn't often win the hole.
It was all looking a bit bleak until Richard Johnson and Stewart Rowe returned triumphant! Congratulations go to Mike Hook and Col Jehan for a hard earned half as the last pair out.
Overall result was 61/2 - 11/2.
Congratulations also to Richard for winning nearest the pin on the 18th . 1ft 2in I'm told - very impressive.
There was some compensation in the delicious lasagne, potato wedges and salad that followed the match.
Many thanks as usual to all the players today. Your support for the team matches is much appreciated.

Team Report:
A dry and breezy day for this match. The greens are playing very well at the moment and the amount of run on the fairways is truly amazing. Amazing too to win a match, both personally and the team. Well done to everybody - especially the winning pairs.
After a poor start by me, Patrick salvaged half on the 1st and 2nd holes. I then burst into life and played good golf.
'You can't win against par golf' was the phrase we used and it was true for both pairs. A par on the last ensured the win.
Very tasty fish and chips was well received by all. Roll on September 16th and our home match v Carholme.
