Team Report: Another great day for golf with the course in the best condition probably this year. Well played the 2 pairings of Tony Crook/Paul Eveleigh and Steve Wells/Mick Flower who won. 3 matches were hard fought draws with the 3 losses including your Captain, resulting in a 4 ½ - 3 ½ loss.
I'm afraid the 'Sherman tanks' were much in evidence until I parred the 9th and 10th to win both holes. Julian tried valiantly to prop up the pairing and we survived until the 16th .
Fish and chips were well received by all and the promise of matches again next year.

Team Report:
Despite a rousing pre match call to battle by the Captain, the team managed to come second again. Congratulations to Julian and Stewart for their win and to Nigel Cooke and Colin Taylor for snatching a draw for the jaws of victory! Your Captain and Alan (previous club champion x 3) knew the destiny of our match once Dave Foster birdied 2 of the 1st 6 holes. We fought gallantly and won the back 9 but it was a little too late.
The course was in excellent nick with true running greens and actual green grass on the fairways. It even rained for about 10 seconds.
The fish and chips that followed were delicious. These places are a tough act to follow!
Many thanks to the members who support team the team and appear to enjoy themselves irrespective of the result.
These friendly matches would not be possible without you.
Simon

Team Report: Well done team! A 5 ½ - 2 ½ win to finish the season. Our 2 losses included the current Captains last match in charge. It all started very steadily and we were 2 up after 9 following par on 8 and 9. Then Kev and Mick refused half time Wagon Wheels and proceeded to win the next 6 holes for their victory. Thankfully we finished in time to watch the monsoon from the clubhouse.
The course has continued to improve with the recent rain and the greens were fast and true. Although the rough was lush and caused a few issues.
Lakeside butchers provided a good quality roast dinner (a choice of beef or turkey) which was well received by all.
Once again, my thanks go to every member who has represented the team this year with customary friendliness and good humour. It certainly made my job much easier and more enjoyable.
Happy golfing ,Simon.

Team Report:
A dry and breezy day for this match. The greens are playing very well at the moment and the amount of run on the fairways is truly amazing. Amazing too to win a match, both personally and the team. Well done to everybody - especially the winning pairs.
After a poor start by me, Patrick salvaged half on the 1st and 2nd holes. I then burst into life and played good golf.
'You can't win against par golf' was the phrase we used and it was true for both pairs. A par on the last ensured the win.
Very tasty fish and chips was well received by all. Roll on September 16th and our home match v Carholme.
A happy Captain Simon.
