Team Report: Again may I start by saying thank you to all that put their names down for this this rearranged match against Woodthorpe. On this occasion I will also start by saying thank you for turning up, well most 🤣
Myself and Garry Gilberthorpe started the ball rolling in a closely fought contest, level after 16, a par on the 17th by my good self took us one up. Bring on the 18th, my 1st shot hit the water but under pressure Garry held his nerve to make the half. 1-0 WIN this was followed by further 5 wins for our Welton Warriors.
Our only losses were Vice Captain Simon Boyes and Alan Phillipson 2-1, this I believe indicates a hard fought match and an acceptable result. The second and biggest loss was Steve Wells and just in case you haven’t heard our THREE TIMES CLUB CHAMPION Alan Pretty, 4 -2. I apologise to Steve for making the pairing and ask Alan to make a mental note to try harder in ALL future competitions🤣🏌️♂️⛳️

Thanks, must also go to Woodthorpe’s captain Graham Rushby and his team, who irrelevant of the result, made for a wonderful day of golf.
Compliments again where given about the condition of the course especially the greens. This was followed by positive comments about the post match Bowsers meal which as always seems to give a satisfying end to a great days golf.
One last big thank you must also go to Hayley, her help both behind the scenes and on the day ensured this rearranged match happened.

Team Report: As we all know golf like the weather is unpredictable, today’s match against Messingham was a great example of just that. After a great welcome from the Messingham guys we made our way to the starting tees 1 & 9, slightly overcast and slight chill in the air but other than the golf a great start to the day.
I picked the new seniors bandit Stewart Rowe as a playing partner, thinking that with his new found skill level it would make the game a walk in the park. I wasn’t wrong, we had a walk in the park🤣. 2 down after 2, even after 5 and back to 2 down at half way, accept the odd shower and a rise in the temperature the only thing going our way seemed to be the weather. Bandit Stewart made a great start to the back 9 bringing us (carrying me) back to even after 11, that’s when the wheels fell off loosing the next 4 in a row. Losing 4-3 after 15 we shook hands. That’s when we made the decision to play the last 3 holes, if losing wasn’t enough this was going to be our biggest mistake of the day, as we walked down the 16 the dark clouds came in followed by the sound of thunder, by the 17th the heavens opened, we abandoned the course missing the 18th. After making it back to the clubhouse car park the rain became torrential. Personally I very nearly felt sorry for those still on the course 🤣. I’m pleased to say everyone made it back before the constant downpour and standing water made the course impossible to play.
At first the results didn’t seem to be going our way, then super subs Graham Robinson and Gary Gilberthorpe along with their playing partners Richard Johnson and Nigel Cooke came home adding to the win of V/C Simon Boyes and Steve Wells, with 2 halves this made for what I believe was the best result for the day.

Many thanks to the Messingham captain Dave Roach and his team, good company makes for a great days golf and the delicious steak pie that followed was an added bonus. 🏌⛳️🥧
