Team Report:
Another scorchio day which everyone appeared to survive intact.
The course was well turned out with softer greens than we perhaps expected.
Certainly no complaints from the Tetney team.
Many thanks to all who turned out especially the short notice players. Phil Wood deserves a mention for playing on his own following a late withdrawal. Your support is invaluable.
Although the result looks bad on paper all teams said the matches were close fought. Indeed, my match with Tony against Dave and Phil was nip and tuck until a 4 par burst by Phil sunk our chance of winning.
The sandwich platter was well received given the hot weather. Hayley did us proud by delivering them to wherever the groups were sitting.
Laceby away next Tuesday. Let's hope for a cooler and more productive day.
Happy golfing
Simon

Team Report:
Thankfully the conditions today were cooler than recently. The course was lush with fairly thick rough and slowish greens.
Partner Paul was generating a good deal of run to the extent that the ball hardly ever stayed on the green. Out of bounds on the first was a sign to come as we both struggled for consistency. Our opponents however, played well. We shook hands on the 13th having only won one hole. Looking at the scores, several other teams also struggled. Special mention to our winning pairs: Nigel Hymes with Colin Bilboa, and Mick Flower with Brian Dobson.
An excellent meal of fish and chips or pie and chips followed.
Many thanks to everyone for supporting these friendly matches. There are open to every member who signs up, irrespective of handicap. VC Alan and Garry G were both giving their opponents up to 13 shots.
It seems our away form needs some improvement!
North Shore on June 5th is next!

Team Report:
I can report that Welton came second again in this match. The course was in excellent order with true running greens although the rough was thick enough to cause problems for Nigel and myself. We led the team by example with a 6&5 thumping. In fairness, the opposition played well and even nett pars didn't often win the hole.
It was all looking a bit bleak until Richard Johnson and Stewart Rowe returned triumphant! Congratulations go to Mike Hook and Col Jehan for a hard earned half as the last pair out.
Overall result was 61/2 - 11/2.
Congratulations also to Richard for winning nearest the pin on the 18th . 1ft 2in I'm told - very impressive.
There was some compensation in the delicious lasagne, potato wedges and salad that followed the match.
Many thanks as usual to all the players today. Your support for the team matches is much appreciated.
Happy golfing Simon

Team Report:
A great day for golf on a well manicured and maintained course. As I was a last minute substitute for Nigel Cooke who was 'doing a Bonnie' as we call it now (lost in France!), VC Alan played in the top match with Tony Crook against their captain Kev. A birdie fest by all accounts that resulted in a creditable draw. Myself and Neil Campbell were losing holes to pars against Simon and Harry. Even when Neil had a chip in birdie at the 9th it ended as a half. 4 down with 5 to play we rallied but succumbed to a 2&1 loss. Congratulations to Phil Wood and Paul Eveleigh and Tony Fell and Bryan Bakewell for their wins on the final hole.
I hope you all enjoyed this fixture.
Congratulations also to Phil and Colin Taylor for nearest the pins, enjoy the wine chaps! At least we won that 2 to 1 but lost the match 5 -3.
The hospitality was its usual high standard and the meal of proper ham, eggs and chips was delicious.
Back to fortress (?) Welton on 26th June for the home match v Tetney. It would be nice to win again.
